Halloween 2009
We are so excited, for Christmas we got a Webcasting gun from my brother and sister-in-law, Thanks Jon & Jenn!
We have tried the Webcasting gun out, thanks to our brother-in-law Jeff letting us borrow his air compressor. The inside of our garage door is now covered in webs! Things we learned: technique, pressure makes a difference as well as how fast you feed the glue sticks, and most importantly = We Are Going To Need A LOT Of GLUE STICKS!

Can't believe it's over. Sorry
we haven't updated in a while, but this Halloween had us busier than any other
one before. For one we had our Adult costume party on the
30th, which had us doing so much the day before trick or treat. Also our toddler didn’t help us get things
done, instead she was making messes right behind us which really slowed us down. We were actually rather disappointed with our
Halloween this year in that we did not get the house decorated on the inside or
outside like we wanted. Normally we have
a lot more done on the inside for our party and we normally put a lot more out
before TOT but we didn’t have time due to having to pick up our kids across
town from their overnight with grandparents.
But already we have plans for next year in the works that will help to
prevent the issues we had this year.
Our party was a wonderful time, even
for those that came a day late?? LOL We
had our coffin in the living room floor and there was dancing on the
coffin! What a blast!
Trick or Treat was also a blast, our friend Darrell came out and helped us haunt our yard again, we love when he is able to make it out to do this. While Doug tried to do something other than Freddy this year, Freddy was called out and had to make an appearance. Why do the kids love Freddy so???

Boy what a year in trying to get setup, it is going so slow or at least it feels that way and now we are down to 10 days to go and so much to do.
Check out the slideshow below for picture updates.

It has begun! We started setup last weekend, and the biggest challenge has been working around our almost 3 yr old daughter. She isn't scared of any of it, it just makes everything take longer when you have a toddler running around. We finally took a few pictures tonight, not great quality, but gives you an idea of where we are at. We have made the fenced in area bigger, including the side yard. We have decided we need a few more tombstones. Right now the only things out are items the kids have seen in the past. We have had visits from neighborhood kids everyday, they are loving it already, Just wait till they see all the new things, many of which won't be out until the 31st!

We can't believe how close it is to Halloween!
We have started buying a few things and have plans to build many other props for this year. Unfortunately some things have gotten in the way of making new props.
For one, while working on a prop, a little too late one night, the utility blade got away from me and I slashed part of my arm open. This required Doug rushing me to the emergency room and 6 staples. Now I have a huge ugly scar on my arm, I guess it's a war wound. But that set back our work and has made me more cautious, for a moment anyway.
Besides that, almost exactly a year after one large Bradford pear tree in our backyard fell, we had another one go down. Another huge mess to cleanup as the remaining parts of the tree had to be brought down. Not to mention it has a sibling who we have decided should come down as well, since it is bound fall soon as well. In case you have never dealt with huge overgrown Bradford pears, they are a pain! Gorgeous in the spring, but otherwise Junk Trees.
We are glad to have the Halloween stores opening up. We have visited the Eastgate, Ohio Spirit Halloween store which opened up over a week ago and are pleased with them as always, though not everything was set up display wise, but we will be back to check on that soon. Halloween USA just opened up almost next door to Spirit in Eastgate, but we have not had a chance to visit yet, can't wait to get there. No sign of the usual Halloween Express, guess they aren't coming to Eastgate this year.
Recently the neighborhood kiddies have started ringing the doorbell with their school fundraisers. I can't help but buy from them, as they start telling me how much they love our house at Halloween. I am such a sucker, LOL.
We have decided to start the oustide setup the first weekend of October. So that gives us two more weeks to prepare to begin setup. Of course setup is never completely done till Oct 31st!

It is definately the start of Halloween season! I made a couple stops to scope out Halloween merchandise that may be appearing in stores and found that Dollar Tree has started putting some out. I also stopped by Michael's Arts and Crafts to find that they had their spooky town Lemax out and were setting the planogram and putting up the other Halloween merchandise in the aisles! I will be back there tomorrow to see what is out, especially since I have a 50% off coupon! Jo-ann's also had a couple things out and some Halloween fabric in, I looked at patterns as well.
Well after more than a week of trying, I have given up on adding the video of the Werewolves and Deer from the Midwest Haunter's Convention. I will instead post a link to my youtube video of it. Keep in mind this video does not do the display justice, would be so much creepier in person and in the dark with fog and low lighting! Perhaps when they air the new show that will feature this convention they will show this display better, I will let you know when the show airs.

We have been crazy busy lately and haven't had a chance to update in a while. We don't have much to report, we did make it to the Midwest Haunter's Convention in June, though not for the whole weekend like we wanted. The economy being what it is and money being tight, we only drove up for the trade show on Saturday. We enjoyed it, and got lots of ideas and "I wants". There was a lot of neat proffesional haunter animated displays, and plenty of booths with stuff for the homehaunter like us. Here is a video and pictures of some of our favorite things from the show.
We haven't been up to too much lately, but we do have some good news. We are now listed onwww.Hauntseeker.com! This makes us so excited to continue to be found by fellow Halloween enthusiasts.
Right now we are playing with papier mache techniques, we have been inspired bywww.stolloween.com, he is very talented. We are currently working on a pumpkin and learning from our mistakes. We have also been reorganizing the garage so we have better work and storage space. Thinking of setting up our mausoleum in the backyard as storage shed use in the “off season”, LOL.

Sorry it has been a short while since anything has been written or updated. Our Great Niece, Aubrey Olivia, passed away in February. She was only 13 months old and is missed by all who loved her. Besides losing her both my husband and I have had surgeries, hopefully we will be completely healthy and ready to work on the projects we have planned soon.
Our haunt site is now registered at www.homehauntersassociation.com andwww.planetgravemarker.com , we are so excited to have been found and added to these sites. Thanks to Death Touch for your guestbook signature and add to Planet Gravemarker, your sites are AMAZING! Visit his site at www.deathtouch.hauntseeker.com!

Happy Friday the 13th!

We saw the new Friday the 13th movie last night and LOVED IT! Jason is faster and scarier in this one than in any other one. I didn't see the film as a remake, instead I saw it more as retelling the background and modernizing Jason and the slashing. I think it is the best Jason film yet. The packed theater cheered and applauded throughout the film, laughed, and applauded at the end of the film. It was a blast! We were ready to go see it again tonight but decided that since we have plans to see it with a friend on Sunday that we would just wait. If your sitting on the fence about whether or not to see this "remake" of Friday the 13th, then take our advice and GO SEE IT!

We are going to see the new Friday the 13th movie at midnight. Hopefully a better job is done with this remake than the Rob Zombie Halloween remake. We are not rob zombie fans and did not much care for his "version" of Halloween. We prefer the "romantic" notion of not knowing why Michael is so evil, zombie took that away. I could go on forever on what we feel is wrong with zombie's version, I know there are many that liked it, and to each his own. But we are hopeful that tonight's movie will be a better remake. We know for sure that we can think of no better way to spend our Valentine's night out than going to see a horror film! After all the first movie we saw together was Sleepy Hallow, now there's a good film!
On another note, we are looking forward to going to the Midwest Haunter's convention in Columbus this June. We have never been and have heard from many that it is a blast.
We purchased an outdoor security camera today that we are going to test and possibly use this year to monitor our yard setup when we aren't out there.

It may not be 2009 just yet but we have already been thinking about Halloween. We miss it, even as we drove around and looked at Christmas lights and enjoyed the whole Christmas season, we still missed Halloween. Best of all is the webcasting gun we got as a gift, family knows us all too well! We know for sure that we are going to make the fence bigger, make the masoleum look more like a masoleum instead of a box, by an air compressor and this year our goal is to add some props that move to really get the kiddies!
