Halloween 2011

What's New for this Year???

A New House!

10/25/2011

Wow, it's almost here! This Saturday is our Adult Costume Party and then two days later is Halloween!  We can't wait but at the same time, wish we had just more more day or two to prepare, seems there's never enough time to get it all done.  We have been having a lot of issues with wind, this new house gets stronger winds than we are used to and a lot of our tombstones have gone down and had to be repaired.  So next year, we may have to build a whole new set of them in a better super strong design.  We have had other props that have never had issues with the wind that have gone down too, but that is also due to the wet ground and their supports becoming loose.  So we are learning things about the yard to make next years set up better.  Can't wait to find out how many TOTers we get!

Hope Everyone Has a Hauntingly Good Halloween!

While unpacking boxes, we have realized just how much stuff relied on having big mature trees and here at the new house we only have one tiny tree.  So it's going to take some figuring how to display some things.
Inside setup is well underway, and today we finally got the ladder inside and cleaned the inside 2 story entry way, including the front window.  We also got our ghost lady setup in the front window, so now we have our first decoration that is visible from the outside!  We have to say, "She Looks Good!"  She doesn't move though, but that's alright.

Here it is, our new house!  We will get a better picture up soon, especially before we begin decking it out for Halloween.  One more trip to the old house and everything will be moved in, though FAR from organized and put away.  We are so excited about Halloween this year, no pressure to build new stuff because no one here has seen our stuff before, so we get to play with our same old props and best figure out how to set things up.  Playing with the lighting will be fun too, we are out in the country now and no surrounding lights to block our colored lights.  Well, there probably will be new stuff, can't help ourselves there, but no pressure for new stuff.

On another note, the GoE website has been growing by leaps and bounds as has been our Home Haunters group.  It's amazing to find all these people with the same interests as you and to get together to build props, oh the ideas that come about!

Happy Father's Day!
One week from today, lot's of wiper motor props will be built in our garage at the next GoE Home Haunter's of Southern Ohio MnT!  Going to be lots of fun.
Besides our group meets, we still haven't been up to much of anything in the realm of Halloween.  We did go to MHC and had a blast.  But right now we are less than two weeks away from the move to our new house.  This year for Halloween we aren't planning on doing too much, as it will be a smaller neighborhood and need to feel it out for how many TOTs we get and make the decision if maybe we should start putting on a free haunt and advertising in the area for it.  So this year, we are excited to be moving to a nice big new house and excited about all the changes that may come with that move.

Whew, this year has been a wild ride so far, though we haven't accomplished much Halloween wise.  Our newest future Haunter was born end of January, and in February we decided that it was time to move back closer to family as our oldest is about to graduate high school.  Finding a house was an adventure, but we wound up with our dream house, a house we found years ago for sale but we couldn't get it and now by some sort of fate it was available again.  We can't wait to be in this house, it has enough room for everyone, has the setup we want and has that slight Victorian look to it which makes it perfect for being a Halloween House!  Shortly after MHC, we begin the process of moving into it.  Just moving our Halloween stuff is going to take a Uhaul, so this will be an adventure!
