How it all began
Doug and I's first date was on Halloween of 1999, when we took my son trick or treating. We already knew we had a lot in common, but that evening we looked at the cool, decked out houses and talked about how we would love to decorate like that some day. So a couple years later Doug and I were married. We were living in an apartment, so decorating for TOT's was not really in the cards. We did throw an adult costume party which we had a blast at. Unfortunately we did not take any pictures and we should of because there were some great costumes; UPS delivery girl with a large package, Doctor and buttcheek patient, Pregnant Nun and Priest, a gorgeous renisance gown, sailor. Doug dressed as Freddy Kruger and I was a witch. So the next year we were in a different smaller apartment. We again had the party but not as many people came this time.
For our third year party we were finally in a house, but not a house that got TOT's as it was a street where the houses were far apart. We decided that year to do a seperate kids Boo party and Adult party. It was a blast, the kids party was a hit and we had quite a few people at the adult party. The house was decked out inside with just a touch outside. The fourth year, we decided to do both parties again, while the kids party was again a hit, the adult party was a bust. Only had a few people I worked with show up. It kinda put a damper on things and the following year when we were in the middle of a move to a new house, we decided that between the bust of a party last year and being busy moving, not to have the adult party. But we did decide to do up the outside of the house as we were in a neighborhood with sidewalks and we knew we would get the TOT's. That's when the obsession became obvious to everyone around us. Each year we add more and more and love the remarks from people and it's funny how people take pictures of their kids and stuff at our house.
We love it! Finally, we are the scariest house on the street that we dreamed of years ago on our 1st date!
